29 routes · Road, gravel, mountain biking & cycling · World Tour winter training ground
In winter (December–March), Costa Blanca becomes the de facto World Tour training HQ. Teams like INEOS Grenadiers, Soudal Quick-Step, UAE Team Emirates, and Visma-Lease a Bike choose this region for its stable weather and perfect climbing topography. Their base is usually in Calpe or Dénia, but training routes run right through Gandía’s backyard.
The iconic Coll de Rates (620 m) — a 6.5 km climb averaging 5.3% — is just 45 min drive from Apartamento Milka. Another classic is Port de Confrides, with the climb starting in Benilloba — 66 km / 56 min by car from the property.
☕ Pros also need to refuel carbs. Two spots are absolute classics where teams stop for espresso:
Heart of the region. If you see 20 Pinarello Dogma F or S-Works Tarmac SL8 parked outside, INEOS or Quick-Step are on a break.
The other popular rally point for pro teams and ambitious amateurs in the Marina Alta valleys.
The Sierra de Mondúver massif dominates the local landscape — All-Mountain character, summits up to 841 m. Singletrack routes start right from Marxuquera — no car needed, no transfer, just ride out the gate and climb.
Limestone surface, sea views from the summit, orange terraces on the way up. The riding feels like a blend of Mediterranean coastal trails and proper mountain terrain — rare for the region.

→ Open KomootGravel through orange orchards right from the gate — Marxuquera sits in the heart of the orchard belt, and dirt tracks fan out in every direction. From here you ride straight into the groves, no warm-up on asphalt needed.
Two Vías Verdes (converted railway trails) provide perfect gravel infrastructure:
Former Gandía–Alcoi railway. Tunnels, orange grove cuttings, river valleys. Perfectly graded surface ideal for gravel bikes. Starts 15 min ride from the apartment.
Extension into the Serpis river gorge — wilder, with dramatic tunnels carved through rock. Links to the Racó del Duc route, one of the most spectacular greenways in Spain.
The existing road section focuses on Coll de Rates and Port de Confrides — great rides that require a car transfer. But two proper climbs start literally from the property:
Ride out the gate and head towards the Sierra de Mondúver via the CV-675 and forest roads. Sustained gradients, limestone switchbacks, and panoramic sea views from the top. No car needed — you can start your climb directly from the property.
Flat valley road to the historic town of Xàtiva, crowned by one of Spain's most dramatic hilltop castles. The final kick up to Castell de Xàtiva is a proper climb reward. Perfect for those who want something beyond the coast.
We know what matters when you travel with bikes. The apartment is set up as a proper cycling base:
Lockable garage where you can safely store your bikes overnight — no leaving carbon frames on a balcony.
Outdoor hose and tap right by the garage. Clean off MTB mud or road grime before storing.
Powered by our 10 kW rooftop solar array. Charge your e-bike batteries guilt-free with 100% renewable energy.
Don't have your own bike? Several rental shops in Gandía offer road, gravel, and MTB bikes — delivered to the property on request.
